Day 23 of Dr. Govinda K.C’s 15th hunger strike is almost over, yet solutions no where near. His supporters may be increasing by the day, yet the government and the doctor are yet to come upon an agreement. If his hunger strike continues beyond tomorrow, he will have broken all past records. His longest hunger strike was in 2017, for 24 days when Nepali Congress’ Sher Bahadur Deuba was Prime Minister. A year later, looking at the progress made by the current government to address his demands, it seems like the record is going to be broken.
Doctors at the Tribhuvan Hospital, where Dr. KC is admitted are saying his health condition is critical, further deteriorating as he refuses to take his medication.
The government is claiming to have reached out to Dr. KC’s talk team, however, no significant progress is being made as both parties are unwilling to yield. Earlier today, in a report by Reporters Nepal, “Oli claimed he would himself talked to Dr. K.C if he would break his hunger strike”.
Dr. K.C is staging a hunger strike, demanding the government change the Medical Education Bill to what was agreed upon during his 14th hunger strike.
