Karnali province Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Naresh Bhandari have reached Karnali Academy of Health Sciences in Jumla to meet Dr Govinda KC on Thursday.
CM Shahi and Law Minister Bhandari arrived here on the Nepal Army helicopter that was brought from Nepalgunj to take Dr KC to Kathmandu. However, students at the KAHS protested and chanted slogans against the visiting state officials and prohibited them from visiting the agitating doctor.
Meanwhile, there is a heavy presence of police personnel at the hospital premises.
Dr KC has been staging his 15th indefinite hunger strike for the past 20 days and has refused to be taken to Kathmandu.
On Wednesday, an emergency secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) decided to take steps necessary to save the life of Dr Govinda KC as his health condition has reached a “critical” stage due to the hunger strike.
