Sajha Yatayat, a cooperative public transport organisation amidst a function unveiled the first ‘electric bus’ of Nepal. The buses have been introduced by Sajha Yatayat to curb the problem of growing air pollution which plagues Kathmandu valley – vehicle emissions being one of the most important contributor.
The bus has been developed by CNC Brand of China and in the first phase will be operated within the valley. The operating company, International Green Developers Nepal Pvt Ltd, the producers of Gorkha Eco Panels have said they plan to run the buses nationwide in the future.
The bus’s battery takes three hours to charge and a full-charge would service approximately 250 kms.
The buses were launched on Tuesday morning by PM Oli amidst a function organised by Sajha Yatayat.
