The printing of smart driving license has been halted by the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) as Malika Incorporate could not finish the task within the given time.
The firm has printed more than 36,000 smart licenses so far. Now the rest of the backlog of the licenses will be printed by the DoTM itself, said Gokarna Prasad Upadhyaya, Information officer at the DoTM.
“The remaining backlog of the licenses will be printed by the department itself using thermal technology.” said Upadhyaya.
According to Managing Director of Malika Incorporate Surendra Dhakal, they could not print all the smart licenses within the given due to frequent re occurrence of technical glitches.
In order to speed up the printing over frequent complaints, the government signed a one-off contract with Malika Incorporate last September.
