The nation lost some of the best yesterday – one of the most hard working minister Rabindra Adhikari, who despite various allegations relentlessly worked towards shaping the future of Nepal’s tourism and aviation sector, Ang Tshiring Sherpa, a tourism and hospitality entrepreneur whose visionary ideas are a legacy in Nepal, Mr. Birendra Prasad Shrestha, Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) who earlier served as the General Manager at Tribhuvan International Airport was a well respected and loved figure, Dhurba Bhocchibhoya, Deputy Director at CAAN, Yubaraj Dahal, a close and trusted aide of PM K P Oli, Arjun Kumar Ghimire, Minister Adhikari’s Public Safety Officer, and lastly Prabhakar KC, a young, vibrant and highly-experienced pilot for Air Dynasty.
Social media is ablaze with messages for them – some remember Minister Adhikari’s ever smiling face, some remember Sherpa’s inspiring stories, CAAN and airport officers revisit their personal experiences with the loved colleagues, and friends of the young pilot shocked, yet at the same times share fond memories with him.
For Nepal, it is a huge blow – the nation has lost some of its visionaries. Minister Adhikari had shouldered the huge responsibility of Visit Nepal 2020 – an ambitious task of bringing in 2 million visitors into Nepal within 2020. One of the youngest ministers, his hard work was evident – he had cleaned up Pashupati well, pushed the construction of Bhairawaha’s international airport, and days ago, he was sharing plans to carry out repair and extension works at TIA’s runway.
Mr. Sherpa, a tourism and aviation entrepreneur was known for his visionary ideas for Nepal’s tourism development. An enthusiastic person, he, along with family established Yeti Airlines after realising the need for a well-connected domestic airline to cater to the needs of domestic and international tourists. Beginning with one aircraft, today Yeti Airlines owns one of Nepal’s largest domestic fleets. Besides developing the aviation industry of Nepal, Mr. Sherpa has also made immense contribution to the hospitality sector.
The young pilot, Prabhakar KC was an experienced pilot and a friendly person – as told by friends. ‘He loved flying’, a friend told us while showing some pictures from his Facebook – him, the helicopter in the background, and the Himalayas in the backdrop.
Aawaaj News offers its condolences to grieving family members – with them, the nation mourns.
