Medical Students padlock OPD

The students of Gandaki Medical College who are protesting against charging a higher amount of fees than mentioned in the fee structure, have padlocked the Outpatient Department (OPD) indefinitely since Tuesday as the college did not address their demands.

Students padlocked the OPD upon the failure of the college to respond to the demand in spite of their warning. Former student doctors and their family members are also supporting the protest.

The college was found collecting Rs 5.5 million per student for the course which is, in fact, more than approved by a cabinet meeting in the past. The cabinet meeting had decided the fee for MBBS students studying outside the Kathmandu valley around Rs 4.2 million to Rs 4.5 million.

Students filed a complaint against the college at the District Administration Office, Kaski, on Sunday.
