A senior leader of Netra Bikram Chand led Communist Party of Nepal along with 8 other members of the party were arrested by a team of Kavre District police in conjunction with Metropolitan police from Kavre on Saturday Morning.
Hemanta Prakash Oli – ranked as the third senior leader after Chand and Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma – and in-charge of the central command – was nabbed off, after a tip off, with a group of 8 other members: Bijay Shrestha, Shankar Adhikari, Lalit Tamang, Sanjiv Karki, Dev Ghimire, Lokendra Khadka and Dharmaraj Rajbahak. They were coming to Kathmandu.
Oli, who has also taken responsibility of the Ncell explosion at Nakkhu in which a life was taken away and the Basundhara explosion, was absconding since Tuesday when police reached Kafal Dada of Roshi Rural Municipality acting upon a tip off about the party’s hideout.
The government has called the Chand-led party an “Organized Criminal Group” and has banned its activities strictly since March 12. Security forces have been mobilised across the nation to curtail the party’s activities.
