Climate-change activists block junctions in London, 290 arrested

Police have arrested 290 climate change activists in London for blocking some of London’s most important junctions including Oxford Circus and Marble Arch. Causing traffic chaos in their two days of protests demanding the government reduce greenhouse emissions, the protests are gaining attention.

In the polarized world we live in, some are praising it, some calling it a nuisance. British climate group Extinction Rebellion – who staged a semi-nude protest in the House of Commons earlier this month – is leading the protests and brought parts of central London to a standstill on Tuesday.

The group is demanding the government reduce greenhouse emission to net zero by 2025.
