Diarrhoea epidemic plaguing Gulmi brought under control

A diarrhoea epidemic causing troubles in a rural village of Gulmi for the last 10 days has finally been brought under control.  The epidemic had affected over 200 people and also claimed the life of a person.

The water supply of Nurekhola Drinking Water Project (NDWP) is said to be the main cause. People of the village had started suffering from the disease after they drank the water contaminated with e.coli bacteria which are mostly found in feces, a test concluded.

The number of victims showing up in hospitals has significantly declined since the start of this week, said DB GC, a health coordinator of Musikot.

A sixth grader, Resham Sinjali, 12, was killed by the epidemic a few days ago.
