A former senior UN official who was arrested last year for sexually assaulting children in Nepal, has been convicted of involvement in the crime by Kavre District Court.
Canadian National Peter Dalgish, 61, was found guilty of sexual child abuse by the court. However, the court is yet to declare his sentence. According to Thakur Trital, the registrar of Kathmanud District court, the sentence would be announced on the next hearing scheduled to be held on July 8.
The court announced the verdict on the basis of preliminary hearing and the interrogation between the accused and the victims in the presence of legal counsels for both parties.
The CIB after monitoring his activities for a long time, arrested Dalgish in Kavrepalanchowk District in April last year who was accompanied by two boys aged 12 and 14 at the scene.
Afterward he was moved to judicial custody for further investigation into the case.
Peter Dalgish who has already worked in many sectors of UN as top official, was running various project related to education and drinking water for deprived communities in Kavrepalanchowk district after the 2015 Gurkha Earthquake in Nepal.
