The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Nepal, has organized for the first time a two-day honorary consuls general/consuls summit in Kathmandu, aiming at bolstering ties with other nations around the world and providing Nepalese representatives internationally with insights into various aspects of economic diplomacy including trade, investment, tourism and foreign employment.
The two-day Foreign Ministry’s promoting Nepal program was held at Annapurna Hotel, Kathmandu on 26-27 June. It was attended by over 40 Nepalese honorary consuls, consuls and consuls-general representing the country abroad.
In the program, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradip Gyawali, discussing about the country’s recent socio-political achievements, advised the further promotion of Nepal’s economic diplomacy so as to bring international investment in the country. He also told representatives to work in line with the national campaign, “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.”
Participates in the program also had a collective telephone call by PM KP Sharma Oli. The PM, over the call, praised the representatives’ contribution and role towards the nation and the people. Likewise, he urged the representatives to work on promoting Nepal as an attractive destination for tourism and foreign investment. PM Oli, during the Nepal Investment Summit, said that Nepal is a great land for investors.
Representatives, after attending the program, expressed their solidarity and commitment with the government’s aim to bring foreign investment in the country and to promote Nepal as a perfect destination for tourism as Nepal’s Visit Nepal Year 2020 is approaching near. Nepal has a target of welcoming 2 million tourists in 2020.
